Description: American Locomotive Company (Alco) FA-1 #701 of the Lehigh & New England in its as-delivered appearance. When the LNE's new Alcos started arriving in Spring of 1948 they did not have the road numbers painted on the nose. From the accounts I've read, it didn't take more than a few weeks before the railroad's shop in Pen Argyl had added them. Coming from a model train background, I like to think of it as precision modeling… on a coffee mug. All mugs are produced by me personally using a process called sublimation printing, where the image is "baked" into the surface. This makes for a finish that is much more durable and scratch-resistant than just a surface print or paint. While they are very durable, they can be scratched by hard metal edges.
