This is the original cardboard plate, painted by Leon Goldin and used to make a series of prints titled: The Civil Rights Marchers for a 1965 exhibition at Court Gallery in Copenhagen. The limited prints were published and sold at Court Gallery by its American owner: Sam Kaner (1924-1990) The prints were made in honor of the three protest marches from Selma, Alabama, to the state capital of Montgomery in 1965. By highlighting racial injustice, they contributed to passage that year of the Voting Rights Act, a landmark federal achievement of the civil rights movement. A rare and historical work by American Abstract expressionist artist, Leon Goldin (1923-2009). A certificate of authenticity will be included with this works.
