Description: The RED JUNGLE CACTUS is related to the Rhipsalis, Epiphyllum, and other Jungle Cacti. They all grow in the same manner, best as hanging plants or in tall pots to allow the pretty stems (NOT leaves) to show off. Lepismium cruciforme has a small pink flower. The succulent fruits on my plants are so abundant that sometimes I make a shortcake with them. This plant grows easily in both shade and bright light. It is a perfect plant to accompany orchids, bromeliads, and tropical foliage plants. All the plants in our photographs are one very fruitful, very floriferous, very RED clone. If you grow in full sun and reduce watering, they look like the reddest plants. More water and less shade means less red, so you can grow them as you like, but even shaded plants are reddish. You can see the juicy translucent red fruits on this plant. Here are some new photos so you can easily see how large and gorgeous this plant is. It was grown as a hanging plant under the patio cover edge, so has dark red stems on the sunlit side and less red stems on the inside. The whole plant will turn deep red if rotated in sunshine.
