Description: Now offered are rooted one gallon Leucospermum “Veldfire”. Veldfire has large blue green leaves and blooms heavily in spring. Grows around 6x6 but can be kept shorter or grown in a pot. Hardy to zone 9. You will receive a plant similar to the one pictured in photo 2. -Caring For Your Protea- Contrary to popular belief, proteas and Leucospermum are quite easy to grow, excellent drainage is key. Proteas do best in full sun but appreciate afternoon shade in warmer climates. They also thrive if grown in pots. Proteas require acidic, and very well draining soil. I recommend using a mixture of 1 part peat moss, 1 part perlite, and 1 part course sand. In terms of fertilizer proteas DO NOT NEED FERTILIZER. They are extremely sensitive to phosphorus. I only use pine needles and peat moss to help lower the soil PH for my proteas. When you receive your plant in the mail please water it immediately. It is totally normal for some of the lower leaves to yellow and fall since it is just recouping energy. Although my plants are well rooted I recommend repotting it and letting it get to be 1’ x 1’ before planting in the ground. Please do not leave it in a very sunny spot while it is still small. My plants are grown in filtered shade and need time to adjust to full sun. -Shipping- Plants are shipped with the pot and will be affixed with a stake to prevent it from shifting in the box. I ship on Mondays and Thursdays. Please contact me if you’d like to schedule a local pickup. I can only ship to the lower 48 states, no international shipping. -Disclaimer- If you are unsatisfied with your order please contact me directly and I will do my best to work out a solution. Please feel free to reference the several positive reviews from our wonderful customers :) Happy Shopping! -James
