Description: LIFE & ADVENTURES OF PETER WILKINS 1842 Robert Patlock - Fictional Travelogue TITLE: The life and adventures of Peter Wilkins : containing an account of his visit to the flying islanders, taken from his own mouth, in his passage to England, from off Cape Horn, in America, in the ship Hector AUTHOR: R. S. "A Passenger on the Hector" [Paltock, Robert, 1697-1767] PUBLISHER: T. Bedlington, Boston DATE: 1842 "Improved Edition" DESCRIPTION: 4 3/4" X 2 3/4" 186p. Scarce edition compared to a more common 1847 imprint from same publisher. Exceedingly small type: 38 lines to 3 3/4" high type format. No illustrations. The later edition from the same publisher adds 80 pages. Clearly a difficult book to read by whale oil light. CONDITION: GOOD. Modern rebacking with cloth to wholesome effect, though not at all to style. Page and covers well attached. Paper boards heavily rubbed. Pages lightly foxed. Title page toned. Apparently used as a surface for awling, as two awl holes pass through majority of pages. Not as distracting as it sounds, but certainly a fault. BINDING: Stiff paper boards, repaired with modern black cloth Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
