This Marusho trading card / menko set was issued in conjunction with the initial Japanese broadcast of the 45 episodes of "Lightspeed Electroid Albegas" 光速電神アルベガス (Kōsoku Denjin Arubegasu) from 3/30/1983 to 2/29/1984. In "Lightspeed Electroid Albegas" 光速電神アルベガス, the Derinja (Gerinya or Derringer) Civilization attacks earth after 100s of years of peace. The Derinjas, a race of purple-skinned beings, are led by Grand Deram, a sentient being made of energy which lives in the center of the Derinja's home planet Deram. "President" Azass leads the invading force stationed at his orbital base with Generalissimo Duston his top army officer, until they are replaced in Episode 29 by Bios and his lieutenant Dari. Their giant robots, called "Mecha-Fighters" and often prefixed with "Mecha-," act as monsters of the week. A few are piloted, and the pilot is usually killed when Albegas splits their Mecha-Fighter in half. Albegas is a trio of robots able to come and form one mightly metal giant. The Albegas are Dr. Mizuki's creation, and are piloted by his genius daughter, Hotaru, martial artist Daisaku and tough guy Tetsuya Jin. Duston (in Episode 27), Azass (Episode 29) and Bios (Episode 45) suffer the fate of having their Mechas split in two, while Dari (Episode 44) is badly hurt but taken prisoner by the Albegas staff, dying later in their headquarters. All remaining Derinja (as well as Bios' second orbital base/mothership) are dematerialized in Episode 45 when Albegas destroys Grand Deram and makes the Deram planet explode. Alternative titles include: "Albegas", "Light-Speed Electro-God Albegus," and " 光速電神アルベガス ." This anime series is science fiction, full of mecha action. The anime trading card is set is fully licensed by animation film maker Toei. Here, the original box is fully complete with more than just the standard Prize Packs. The box contains the Blue Prize Wallet with Cards, the Green Prize Wallet with Cards, two (2) Dark Blue Prize Packs, the Large Light Blue Prize Packet with 4 Illustrated Medium Blue Packs, and thirty (30) Medium Blue Illustrated Packs (including those in Large Light Blue Prize Packet) The manufacturer hid special "winning" cards in some of the packs. If you got one, you won the prize indicated on the card. You turned your winning card into the retailer and they gave you the prize and returned the card usually with an indication the prize had been redeemed. Before putting the boxes out for sale, the retailer would take out the various prizes and hold them for a customer to redeem with a winning card. This type of promotion was done with many products. Each box of a product delivered the retailer was complete, with enough winnings cards for the special prizes included in the box. All of these products were quite popular, with winning cards adding to the anime collecting fever. Again, this box is complete with all of its components, just as distributed to the Japanese retailer. Free local pickup at a mutually agreeable time, or we ship by U.S. Postal Service with USPS Tracking by the close of the next postal business day from payment. Shipping includes full value insurance. We can often consolidate purchases of our other products of the same day into a single package with this lot to save on shipping. NOTICE: Since insurance covers only the goods but not the costs of shipping them, the buyer agrees that once we have proof of delivery of the package to the post office (which is usually the postal receipt we receive from the postal window clerk at the time of mailing), that if the package or its contents is lost in the mails and not delivered or is damaged in shipping that any refund is limited to the purchase price and any sales tax (if applicable) and does not include a refund of the shipping or insurance. For international buyers, we label our customs tags as "merchandise" and you are responsible for all customs, duties or other import fees into your country.
