Description: Lima is a city in and the county seat of Allen County, Ohio, 72 miles north of Dayton, 78 miles southwest of Toledo and 63 miles north of Dayton. In the years after the American Revolution, the Shawnee were the most prominent residents of west central Ohio, growing in numbers and permanency after the 1794 “Treaty of Greenville”. By 1817, “Hog Creek Reservation” for the local Shawnee was created, covering portions of what would become Allen and Auglaize Counties, including part of present-day Lima. In 1831, the Shawnee were forced to surrender all their land and were relocated to Kansas, opening all of Allen County to settlement. Lima was chosen for the County Seat. In researching Lima, I found references to oil and industries, but this card shows a “Farm Scene near Lima Ohio”. It could very well be a "Generic". I could not find a date, but it is a DB, 1907-1915 and is in good condition with a crease lower left and some burnishing on the corners. The image is clean and clear. There is a message from to the “Dear Kids” and the reverses is clean. The colors on the card may vary due to the scanner settings and screen projections.Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia, Playle's and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible. Corrections appreciated. If this your card, it will be mailed promptly upon receipt of payment......
