Description: LISTED AMERICAN JOHN CHARLES ROACH FINE ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING You are bidding on a fine large original impressionist oil painting on a panel of a seaside landscape by 20th Century-listed American artist: John Charles Roach in very good condition. It is in a nice original wooden frame with a linen trim. The piece is signed and dated 93 in the lower right by the artist. It is very well executed with very fine and detailed brushwork and the use of delightful colors. John Charles Roach is a Navy artist whose training began with three years of study in Paris at the National Academy of Fine Arts and culminated in a Master’s Degree from the American University. He served in Vietnam and the 7th Fleet as an official Navy Artist to document naval activities in-country and offshore. On active duty in the Naval Reserve he has completed artist assignments depicting the submarine force of the 1980s, Desert Shield and Storm, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Among his private commissions, he designed and sculpted elements of the Navy Memorial in Washington, DC and completed a mural for USS Arizona Visitors Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Aboard for part of that cruise was naval artist John Charles Roach who chronicled some of the work.
