The painting depicts a Fall landscape and is signed in the lower left corner, seen magnified in picture 5. Being sold unframed, the painting is in excellent condition with no rips, tears, repairs, foxing, toning, staining, or in-painting. The piece is taped around the edges to a mount board. The painting is an absolute gem and just needs a new mat and frame. The painting itself measures roughly 24" x 17". Thank you for checking out our listing. Louis Lupas (1898-1985) is widely acclaimed for his pastel portraits of Presidents, politicians, and other high-profile figures. Lupas first honed his drawing skills as an artist for the Herald Tribune's Theatre section. In the 1950s, Senator Barry Goldwater persuaded Louis Lupas to visit Washington D.C., where he was soon solidly engaged creating portraits of high society. Although Lupas may have stayed down in Washington on occasion when he was working on portraits of Presidents and Senators, he always lived and maintained a residence in New York City on Riverside Drive during that time period. Many of Lupas' portraits were drawn from life, during portrait sittings. All of our items have been stored in a temperature controlled environment with no pets or smoking allowed.
