Listed Swiss Artist Karl "Charles" Hindenlang (1894-1960) Ink Drawing Of Horse

Description: Winner receives an original ink drawing on wove paper by well listed Swiss artist Karl "Charles" Hinderlang (1894-1960). The drawing depicts a horse done in Hinderlang's Expressionist style. The painting retains its original gold gilt gallery frame and black archival quality matte. This is an excellent example of his work, which does not come up for sale often. The painting is in excellent condition with no damage whatsoever to mention. There are no rips, tears, repairs, foxing, staining, toning, water damage, or in-painting. The gold gilt gallery frame is in excellent condition with only minor wear consistent with age. This little gem is ready for hanging as-is. The frame measures roughly 10" x 13", with the image measuring roughly 5.5" x 8". Please note the pictures may not be as clear as we'd like due to the settings on the camera to reduce the glare. There is not much information available on the artist, but below is a brief biography. Thank you for checking out our listing. Karl (or Charles) Heinrich Hindenlang (1894-1960) was a Swiss artist, painter, glass painter, ceramist and set designer. Born in Basel, Karl Hindenlang began an apprenticeship as a decorative painter in 1911 and attended courses at the industrial school at the same time. From 1920, he made designs for lanterns and costumes of the Basel carnival. In 1928, he became a member of the group ‘Rot-Blau II’, and in 1933, he was one of the founding members of the legendary anti-fascist Basel ‘Group 33’. From the mid-1930s, he devoted himself to glass painting, and from the mid-1940s, he created set designs.
