LIVE AMORPHOPHALLUS HENRYI Young Plant -Henry's Love Lily -Voodoo Lily

Description: This is a live plant grown from seed in a 4"x4" pot and is ready to be repotted or planted out in the garden. The 2nd through 4th photos above show these young plants for sale. The rest show adult plants, flowers, stems and seed pods. One of the smaller species growing 24" tall and coming from Taiwan. As a result, it grows to flowering size in just a few years as opposed to the larger size Amorphophallus that can take many years to bulk up like A. konjac. Amazingly hardy and easy to grow, rated Zone 7b to 9b. A 2' tall green petiole speckled with white blotches emerges in mid-June and is topped with a giant divided leaf. This continues into mid-September. A 2- to 3-year-old tuber will produce a fascinating flower prior to the leaf petiole emergence. This will be followed in the fall with an attractive clump of blue berries which will last a considerable time. Seeds from these berries can be germinated easily in the spring. As the bulb gets bigger, the plant and flower will get larger each year. Prefers part shade but can grow in full sun to deep shade. In the Fall once it starts to die down, watering and fertilizer should be eliminated. If you check the bulb at this point. you will find many offset bulbs that will become plants next fall, forming a nice clump of dwarf Voodoo Lilies. Most of these bulbs and offsets I dig up after foliage dies down and store dry in paper bags in a cool 40?50-degree spot or in plastic bags with slightly moist perlite in the refrigerator and plant out when they begin to sprout in the spring. Extremely deer resistant.
