Description: There are actually several bison herds in South Dakota, but this buffalo was alone in a forest that had been reduced to sticks by a fire. I did this painting in thick oil paint on an 8x10 masonite board. I like using thick oil paint as it gives paintings a luscious texture that can’t be replicated in a print.
