Description: This is a very lovely Caithness Glass full-sized spherical "Cauldron Aqua" paperweight in a lilac, green and white colourway. Cauldron Aqua was designed by Innes Burns in 1982. I believe that it was also reissued in 1998 for a number of years, but these have a different year code. It is 8 cm in diameter and 7.1 cm height. This beautiful paperweight is decorated with a central mid-sized “flaming cauldron” of green and white glass. This is set in a ball of pale lilac glass which is enlivened by beautiful and very evenly controlled small bubbles (“bullicante” technique). The level of technical control is excellent. There is an acid etched mark on the base: “Caithness CAULDRON AQUA Scotland” and a scratched production code number “A26249”, which I believe dates to 1983. Caithness Glass was established in Wick, Caithness, Scotland in 1961. Caithness paperweights date from 1969. This beautiful vintage Scottish paperweight is in perfect condition, with no chips or scratches and no restoration. I have a number of other modern and vintage art glass and similar pieces for sale.
