Description: Historical 5.5X3.65 postal card written and signed in pencil by Karl Lucius in 1915. A rare example of his signature. 1858-1927. Kingdom of Saxony: KG, served Imperial Germany during the Great War as commander of a Royal Saxon Infantry Division. He replaced General Adolph von Carlowitz as commanding general of the Saxon XIXth Army Corps for the final three months prior to Armistice. On March 23, 1910 , Lucius was promoted to colonel and one month later, on April 18, 1910 , he became commander of the 14th Infantry Regiment No. 179 in Wurzen/Leisnig. On June 16, 1913 , he was appointed major general and took over as commander of the 1st Royal Saxon Infantry Brigade in Dresden from October 1st of the same year Empire was incorporated. On March 20, 1915 , Lucius took over as commander of the 123rd Infantry Division. On May 21, 1917 he was promoted to lieutenant general, with which he and his wife were allowed to bear the honorary title "Excellence". On August 9, 1918 , Lucius took over the supreme command of the XIX . German army corps. He did so until 1919.
