Description: VTG 1935 Luhring Dodge Dealership promo metal ruler ( made by MASTER , assumed to be the same , Master Lock Company ) Norfolk, VA Pat. Number is 2,076,704, which is 3/18/1935 good condition. Minor bend in the metal pull-out measuring tape at the 7" inch mark. the metal tape will extend aprox 32" inches and retracts fine , as very usable , but selling for display as very rare and impossible to find dealer promotional item , not dated , but probably made about 1940. the logo is rubbing off see pic's Made in the USA. I believe this dealership opened in VA in the early 1940s. Note I included a photo found on the internet , of this dealership in Norfolk VA , which is online , and only shown here in this listing , as proof of the dealership.----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Luhring Motor Company in Norfolk hosted an open house at its 21st Street sales and service location on Sept. 11, 1948. The company lured visitors with the chance to win a new fully equipped four-door custom Dodge sedan. All visitors had to do was take a guided tour of the newly renovated building, featuring eight departments, to receive an entry for the drawing. Thirty minutes before the store opening, some 1,500 people were lined up around the building, waiting for the doors to open. By the time the store closed at 9:15 p.m. , 30,000 people had taken the tour and consumed 1,000 cases of soft drinks. Louis Engle, an 83-year-old retiree from Norfolk, had the winning ticket for the car .
