Description: M1839 US enlisted mans oval buckle and belt rig. Buckle is in nice shape but showing usage. The hook has a slight turn to it, but I see no signs of a repair or damage. It may have been a factory defect. Makes no difference as it can be worn today. You see so many of these buckles on here that are reproductions. The "hook" is usually the giveaway. Most reproductions have a flat, thin hook and oftentimes, the lead filled backs are overfilled. This one is 100% authentic and original to the belt. Guaranteed to be authentic, original, and as described for life. The belt is full length and very solid for its age. Most belts I've seen are fairly fragile. This one is quite solid with no tears or weak spots. It does have some crazing, naturally but is a solid example of an enlisted man's belt rig. It came from a Massachusetts estate and possibly from a Massachusetts regiment. A great relic that was actually there! You weon't find a better deal than this one! Thanks and Good Luck!
