I repasted the CPUs with fresh, high-quality thermal compound. I loaded it with 64 GB of registered, ECC-type 10600 DDR3 RAM. That's eight sticks at 8 GB each. The tray has an issue where one of its RAM slots (slot 1) is not operating. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the tray itself or one of the CPUs (it's definitely not bad RAM) but it's sold this way. Please note that this tray is not properly compatible with Mac Pro 4,1 models. This is true even if you've performed the flash operation to upgrade them to 5,1 firmware. This is a proper 5,1 tray and it will only work properly in a proper 5,1 backplane board. If you stick it in a 4,1 backplane nothing dangerous will happen, but the fans will constantly run at maximum speed. About My Shop You're looking at an independent, one-person operation.
