Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely English majolica art pottery pitcher, c. 1880-1890. The pitcher features a hawk figure molded in relief on each side standing among branches and green leaves. The hawk has a charcoal body with a pinkish chest. The body of the pitcher has a mottled appearance with olive green and brown coloration and has a brown bamboo shaped handle. The interior of the pitcher is the same pink color as the hawk's chest. Pitcher is unmarked, however, we guarantee it to be as advertised and made by one of the major English majolica factories of the period. Measures 9 1/4" high, 8" wide (from mouth to handle) with a 5 1/4" diameter base. Weighs 3.4 pounds. This nice pitcher is in excellent Estate condition with nice colors and good glaze - no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some minor no-harm glaze pooling and roughness on the foot ring from production. This unusual pitcher is from my personal 30 year collection. Originally there was a set of three matching pitchers in the small, medium and large sizes but while I was preparing to do these listings, I unfortunately broke the middle size. The small size pitcher is listed separately.
