Description: These shortfin mako Jaws were caught on a tuna/swordfish longline boat I worked on for several years. They were skinned and mounted by a crew member that had done dozens before. It weighted about 200lbs. It was caught back in the late 2000's on a 60' 300lb leader with a 18/0 circle hooks with a squid on the hook set in the Gulf Stream in the Atlantic Ocean at night. Like I said it's a shotfin not a longfin, we've never been allowed to keep longfins which are useless anyway. Now there is no open season on shortfins, makes them illegal to possess, so you won't see any new Jaws being put for sale making these more valuable. I'm thinking about upping the price, I should I've been told several times.
