Her career started in 1905 with a small part in "The Rogers Brothers In Ireland". Farrell played Shakespeare early in her career, but then became known for singing character songs in vaudeville, especially ones with an Irish theme. Her light soprano voice was perfect for musical comedy as evidenced by her recorded output. Her phonograph recording career started in 1915 for Columbia. She also recorded for Victor and Edison. Farrell attended her first Edison session on January 14, 1921, which produced "To the Strains of that Wedding March (It's a Long, Long Walk)," issued as Diamond Disc 50769. Farrell died at age 62 on January 26th 1951 in Buffalo, New York of a coronary thrombosis that followed prolonged suffering from phlebitis. The newly restored CD preserves the majority of her recorded work. Her voice recorded well and the recorded performances show a varied personality in the song interpretations. All selections have been digitally restored by vintage-recordings.com in 2023 with six additional songs. Several Items will have a symbol next to a song.
