Description: The youngest of six children, Joyce grew up on the family farm in Ewen, Mich., where a love for animals and wildlife developed. It was also during these formative years her talent for art began developing.Upon completion of high school, Joyce attended the Meinzinger School of Art in Detroit, Mich., and received a Certificate in Fine Arts in the late 1940’s.Upon her return to Ewen, Joyce met Robert Sterling Kroll. They were married July 21, 1950, in Bruce Crossing, Mich.Her art career began when she and Robert moved to Milwaukee, where Joyce became a fashion illustrator for Gimbel’s and Shuster’s department stores. Eventually, through job relocation, she worked for O’Neil’s department store in Akron, Ohio, and eventually finished her career as a fashion illustrator for Goldwater’s department store in Phoenix, Ariz. It was at this time her focus shifted to landscape and wildlife art.The family relocated to Marinette, Wis., in 1975, where Joyce continued with her art and became well known for her drawings and paintings, with bird art becoming her specialty. Over the years she was involved with art instruction, commissioned for special art projects and provided her artwork for local shows. Her art has been collected by people from all over the United States. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Joyce always enjoyed getting together with family and friends. The artwork is in good condition however there is some dust or debris in between the matting and the glass. They’re also screw holes on the top and bottom of the frame as I believe it was mounted to a wall.
