Description: This is an early (marked 1987) and signed Mark Hopkins piece called Freedom of Speech which depicts James Madison. Mark Hopkins did some variations of this type of work before he embarked on his process of lost wax bronze casting (1988) which made him one of the most recognizable artists of today. The elk pictured in the background (not for sale) is one of his many great pieces. Dimensions: 13-1/4 inches tall by 7-1/4 inch base. This piece is cold cast - the mixing of metal powder with resin. Nice heavy piece in very good condition. Sorry, no overseas shipping. Thanks for looking.
