Description: Mary Austin, Indian Pottery of the Rio Grande. Enjoy Your Museum IIIB. Pasadena: Esto Publishing Company, 1934. 6 x 4 inches, wrappers, 16 pages. This is the scarce original edition, not a print-on-demand copy. I find no other copy of this original printing on the market. As described by the publisher, this unillustrated booklet was “designed to be read while looking at a collection of Indian Pottery.” This was one of Austin’s last publications, printed shortly after her passing (she died in August 1934). In the publisher’s list of booklets on the rear cover, Austin’s name is followed by an asterisk, and the corresponding note names some of the "late" author's important books on the Southwest. This copy is in about fine condition, with only slight evidence of handling. It has sharp corners and has no losses, tears, or creases. The staples are lightly rusted, with some offsetting to the paper at the fold in the center but not detracting from the overall impression. A very nice copy. SEE my related listing of Hopi Pottery by Frederic H. Douglas. I do not accept returns but provide good photos and detailed descriptions so that condition is clearly established. See my feedback for the accuracy of my descriptions.
