He is best known for his role as Jethro Bodine on the 1962 TV series The Beverly Hillbillies. Baer also starred in, wrote, and produced the 1974 movie Macon County Line. Baer is the son of former heavyweight boxing champion Max Baer. He licensed the Beverly Hillbillies name and characters from CBS to establish a casino called "Jethro's.”
