Its older than 1940 as its flat and brass inlay and not chrome on the front. 2 1/4" wide There is ONLY ONE emblem for sale. the partial photo is comparison showing a newer (post 1940) style with chrome inlay. The Maxim Motor Company (NOT Maxium, as incorrectly referred to) built fire apparatus in Middleborough Massachusetts from 1914-1989 on their own custom chassis as well as Chevrolet, Chevy, GMC, Ford, Dodge, International, REO, Diamond T and others. Known mostly through New England and the Midwest, they had loyal customers in the south and west coast also. I did repair with a stud on the back as it had none. There are no visible cracks or dents. excellent condition
