Description: This sale is for signed and dated Curtis "C. Jere" sculpture of a "Cat on a Fence". It was done in 1968. Made of brass with colorful translucent resin inserts and marble eyes. The piece displays most vividly when placed in front of a light source or window. There is even a whimsical wire fish visible in his tummy. The base is stone, possibly onyx. The statue detaches from the base easily but is very secure when inserted into it. The artist's signature and date are clear and unsmudged. The piece measures about 10" wide and 12 1/2" high. Good condition. Brass has nice patina. 2 small cracks in tail. Colored inserts are very securely attached except at one side of tail (see photos). Base appears sound although there are cracks and natural fissures apparent on the bottom side. The cork surface protectors on the bottom show some wear.
