Description: We are delighted to offer this beautiful ceramic sculpture of a mother and child attributed to Mexican Artist, Manuel Felquerez. This well executed piece features finely incised geometric patterns and featureless faces; capturing the ubiquitous image of the developing relationship between mother and child. It measures approximately 17.25" high x 5.5" diameter × 6.5" deep. It is gently used with age related wear. Manuel Felguérez was born in 1928 in Zacatecas and was a member of the ‘Ruptura’ movement in Mexico which eschewed the artistic (predominantly muralist) tendencies of the time. A pioneer in abstract art in Mexico he studied in France and his formation and imagery is closely tied to geometric constructivism and abstract expressionism. He oeuvre includes paintings, sculptures and murals and his exhibitions number in the hundreds; among them, the Biennials in Paris, Sao Paulo and Tokyo. We appreciate your careful review of the photos as they tell so much more than we can articulate; and ask that you zoom in for a closer look at any and all condition issues. We welcome questions and encourage you to ask before reaching a buying decision. As always, we thank you for taking a moment to consider this piece.
