Description: Illustrated menu from the Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Britain for the gala dinner held June 10th, 1957. The Empress of Britain had its maiden voyage in 1956, shortly before its sister-ship the Empress of England, and was the first fully air-conditioned liner. Titled "Gala Night", the menu has a cheerful cover illustration showing a celebration, with crowds of people dancing and a musician, perched on the railing, playing for them. Illustration is signed 'Lendon'. Inside, the menu for the night is under a starry-sky illustration, and it includes fancy French cuisine like "fillet of sole bonne femme" and "jugged hare a la Francaise", a variety of vegetable sides and cold meats, and ends with desserts like ginger sponge pudding and crepes aux orange. 10 1/2" x 8 1/4"
