Description: Very nice fired and "sgrafito" carved fired colored pot by noted Acoma artist Michael Romero (b. 1964) of New Mexico. Avidly collected today, Romero's artistry -taught by his Acoma grandmother- included delicate incising. This vintage pot has been in a Dallas collection; it features two beautiful cutout bear paws. As punctuation, there's a beautiful mineral speckled turquoise overlay that plays up the rosy pink clay. Handsomely carved, the pot really catches the eye. 6" diameter at shoulder, 5.5" tall. Signed "M. Romero, Acoma NM". Great condition, solid body, no abrasions or chips. We were excited to find this, and to offer it. This ships carefully insured from Dallas, domestically only please.
