This is a balcony-sized (18 to 28”) dwarf that can be grown as a micro-dwarf (12 to 15”) in a smaller pot (1 to 2 gal pot). Yellow Budgie comes from a cross I made of Floragold Basket x (Green Mustang x ATVO 0102) in 2016. What has developed over generations is a deep yellow, stubby plum-shaped fruit at generally 1 ounce, with a very tangy flavor. At full ripeness the flesh is firm but not hard. The texture is maintained very well after picking. If you like tomatoes with mild flavor and no acid then you will not like this variety. Yellow Budgie’s piquant flavor is as cheeky as the little bird after which it is named. Productivity is excellent, even through July in my hot and humid Florida garden. Best productivity occurs when grown in a 5 gallon pot (I use pickle buckets). When grown as a micro-dwarf in a 1 to 2 gal pot, the fruit size is a bit smaller and productivity is less, as there is a smaller plant setting fruit.
