This wonderfully exotic sculptural piece has been masterfully hand carved into the form a female Indonesian Goddess or Djanger dance. This bust has been exceptionally well carved with superb attention to detail and displays a good amount of age. The woman is captured with a serene expression wearing a large native earrings and a traditional headdress which is elaborately detailed with finely carved textures and ornamentation which magnificently contrast the silky smooth skin of the attractive woman. The woman's hair is swept into a traditional style detailed with floral adornments. SIZE: This impressive carving stands approx 250mms tall, measures 185mms in length and 115mms in width. WEIGHT: This piece weighs approx 595 grams unpackaged. CONDITION: This bust is presented in very good vintage condition displaying pleasing signs of age. There is one extremely small, tight and stable hairline crack to the timber at the tip of the headdress (measuring no more than 1.5cms) which is incredibly hard to spot. There are a few tiny nibbles to the very edge of the textured hair flowing from the bun, a small spot of wear to the edge of one earring and a few extremely light scuffs to the polished finish all of which are noticeable only on close examination and rather enhance the character and charm of this authentically vintage example. The timber has developed a lovely mellow patina that only time can bring. This piece presents magnificently.
