Description: This Mid War WW2 German Mauser K98k Laminated Wood Rifle Stock is in good, clean condition but sadly has been cut down. The stock is marked with a serial number and several smaller inspection stamps. The stock appears to have been taken off a Steyr Daimler Puch produced K98k and could possibly be a "359 Subcontract" variant found on rifles produced around 1942-43. Of interest, there is no indication of Heer or Luftwaffe issue. The recoil lug is present however it shows mild surface pitting and no attempt has been made to remove it. The cleaning rod nut has been removed. No obvious cracks or serious damage can be found, the wood is clean, retains a rich color and appears to be un-sanded. The only noticeable sign of wear from age that can be detected is a small area of what appears to be delamination near the takedown disc on the right side of the buttstock. This blemish appears to be stable and does not hamper display. A cupped buttplate is also included with the stock, it is unmarked, un-serialized and appears to be from a similar era of production. Total length measures approximately 31.5". While it truly is a shame that this stock was cut, there is still restoration potential left as well as a lot of good, original wood too. Please examine the photographs carefully for the best description of condition and conduct your own research to insure proper fit for your rifle, the stock shown is the one you will receive.
