A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Mike Gosling pitched for Stanford University for three years, and was selected in Round 2 of the MLB Amateur Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, reaching the Major Leagues with that team in 2004. In 2006 and 2007 he pitched for the Cincinnati Reds, and in 2008 for the Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2009 Gosling pitched for the Rochester Redwings, the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, and then was back in the Majors with the Cleveland Indians the same year.
