Pink Swamp Milkweed is also known as Rose Milkweed, Red Milkweed, Swamp Silkweed or White Indian Hemp. Before I tell you about the milkweed plant, I have to explain the life of the Monarch Butterfly. Monarchs are amazing butterflies that are fighting constant threats to their species. Between loss of habitat, climate changes, and chemicals like pesticides and herbicides, we need to do what we can to help save them. Many of these Monarchs fly all the way from Canada and the U.S. to Mexico during the winter months. Monarchs spend the winter clumped together in fir and pine trees. In the spring they come out of hibernation to find a mate and then fly north to lay their eggs on the Milkweed plant. As the larvae grow, they eat the leaves of the plant. Once grown, they repeat the cycle and migrate to Mexico to avoid the cold weather. It is a remarkable migration!Milkweed may take patience to get established but the benefit for Monarch Butterflies is a necessity. Other pollinators will also enjoy your Milkweed & help to pollinate the other plants in your area.If this is not the right variety of Milkweed for your area, please check my other Milkweed listings.Milkweed seeds need to be stratified prior to starting. The seeds that I have listed are Pre-stratified so they are ready to start. If you are not planning on starting once you receive them, keep them in the refrigerator so that they will be ready when you are. Some may need to be scarified if they are slower to germinate.Supplemental USDA growing instructions will be included with all Milkweed seeds.Invoices will be sent with every order. I am providing a cost effective way for the home gardener and homesteader to grow non-GMO plants at a reasonable price. There are people out there that are using my photos and descriptions to sell my products on outside selling websites at inflated prices (sometimes 300% - 400%). They then ask that no invoice be sent to hide what they paid for the items. They are selling my company name & my products without my permission. I sell exclusively here and only sell my products at the price listed here. For Buyer protection and to protect the integrity of my business and products, all orders will be sent with an invoice clearly listing the price of each item purchased.
