Copy Gifted to Archbishop of Valladolid Author: Catholic Church Publisher: Lyon, Hector Penet apud Maurice Roy [et] Louis Pesnot Condition: Very Good An extremely scarce mid 16th century edition of the Roman Missal, reorganized, and suitably distinguished for the convenience of the priest. The text is printed throughout in red and black in a gothic font, with musical notation and large ornate initials. There is a full-page woodcut of God. The blank leaf at the end has been inscribed by a contemporary hand, with a red initial. This volume has been bound in a 19th century later leather, with a Spanish gift inscription, following as such; "To the most eminent and reverend Cardinal Moreno, distinguished archbishop of Valladolid, in testimony of his high consideration and affectionate respect. MM. de Pineda". Worldcat records four copies of this edition in libraries. Leaves CXCII-CXCIII are lacking One finely bound volume in quarto, (15)+CCXLIX of CCLI leaves This volume is in very good shape, with minimal rubbing and wear to the binding. The upper right corner of folio CXXXIX has been repaired with blank paper. Similarly, a woodcut from folio CCIII has been excised, and repaired as such.
