Description: Great Monsters of the Movies by Edward Edelson, Archway 1974 (reprinted from Doubleday HC, 1973)Movie Monsters by Gary Poole, Modern Publishing 1986 Here for sale are two vintage young-reader high interest nonfiction titles. These are the kinds of books that you might have found at a school book fair, designed to pique the interest of potentially reluctant readers and draw them in with interesting facts and lots of photos. Similar books could be found on horses, sharks, whales, snakes, outer space, sports, and a wide range of topics that beginning readers would find fascinating. These books come from about a decade apart. Great Monsters of the Movies deals largely with classic cinema monsters, from Dracula to King Kong to Godzilla. Movie Monsters covers much of the same territory but brings in some of the more modern kid-palatable monsters -- it covers the Gremlins, for instance. Neither book deals with Night of the Living Dead, possibly because they wanted their young readers to be able to go to sleep at night. Both books are in well-used "reader" condition -- intact, bright, but showing significant wear of the kind you'd expect from a volume that had been read through multiple times by its young original owner. See photos and condition notes for more details.
