Description: Naked Lunch, by William S. Burroughs (New York: Grove Press, Inc., 1962) This is a stated fourth printing of the first U.S. edition. Inscribed and signed on the half-title "For Pamela all best William S Burroughs 9/6/90". 8vo. Dark black over lighter-black boards. First, the flaws: Two thin, horizontal slightly raised wavy ridges (probably a binding defect) to front board, quite faint. Two very small shelf-nudges along bottom edge (tried to show it in photo). Previous owner's initials "NM" on front of jacket (Argh!) A bit of edge wear to the very good early-state dust jacket, in a protective cover, but with soiling at the back. Spine is a little loose with a ridge running down it - another binding defect? It's been stored for years, resulting in a mild musty smell, which can be cured. Good stuff: Nice, sharp corners. Solid hinges with no cracks. Handsome dark-stained top edge. The "Autographed Copy" sticker is outside. Clean, crisp pages with no marks. Just feels good. Overall, a very good+ copy of a later state in a very good jacket.
