Although it appears black at first glance, it reveals a glossy purple sheen when reflecting light. This iron kettle is crafted with kamayaki processing, which is essential for iron infusion and direct heating. The traditional kamayaki method involves reheating the cast iron kettle at 800°C (1472°F) to create a protective film known as kuro-sabi (black rust) inside, which is crucial for releasing iron into the water. Design Inspiration: Our goal was to create a Nambu Tekki kettle that complements various interior styles, both Western and Japanese. The wood grain pattern emerged from numerous design sketches. The lid features a small flower bud as a delicate accent. This kettle has a tall shape, giving it a capacity of 0.6L (approx. 16 fl oz), which is larger than the Ko-Arare and Hisago models. The included tea strainer is also tall and spacious, allowing tea leaves to expand fully. It's perfect not only for boiling water but also for use as a teapot. When using with IH cooktops above 200V, please use low to medium heat.
