Nancy Ann Storybook Around the World #40, NORWEGIAN with Judy Ann Mark, 1938

Description: This little early doll is Nancy Ann Storybook doll Around the World Series #40, Norwegian with Judy Ann mark from Snowdrift Antiques.She is a 5" bisque pudgy tummy doll with jointed legs, molded socks, short arms, and molded bangs. Her light blond hair is in good condition with some flyaways and is partially unglued from her head (not unusual with these earlier wigs). She has the crude JUDY/ANN/USA mark on her back. She has been restrung as the original elastic was very stretched out.Her original clothes are in very good condition for their age. She wears a red polished cotton bodice with off-white organdy sleeves and an attached gathered green polished cotton ¾ length skirt. The bodice has 3 white sequins sewn on and the skirt has an attached white organdy apron. The red and green cotton have the typical Nancy Ann cotton fade. Her simple red felt bonnet is also faded and is secured to her head with black ribbon ties which have some light fraying. Underneath are her original gathered off-white cotton underskirt and off-white cotton panties. Her dress closes with a brass safety pin as do her underclothes. I did not find any holes, tears or stains on her dress.Similar doll is pictured on p. 53 in the Encyclopedia of Bisque Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls by Pardee and Robertson.Original Nancy Ann brown metal doll stand included.From a non-smoking home.
