In 2008, NASA and Disney/Pixar collaborated on a joint educational initiative to fly a Buzz Lightyear space ranger toy to the ISS as a part of NASA's established "toys in space" educational program, while granting NASA permission to use the trademarked character in on-line educational lessons about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
