Description: FOUND PACKED AWAY IN U.S. NAVY MEDICAL OFFICER'S ESTATE. Given to Dr. Ravel in recognition of his service related to Navy aviators and NASA during the space race. The Grumman Lunar Module was the first vehicle to land a man on the Moon. Because it was designed to fly solely in space, its design, construction and testing continuously pushed the technology envelope for lightweight metals and unique electrical and electronic systems resulting in one of the most important and successful engineering achievements of mankind. This pin is an original RARE pin commemorating the feat and given to people who helped make this achievement possible. I have shot the front, which shows the moon and flag and the back shows the lunar module with the words First manned lunar landing NASA Grumman . The piece has the pin back that attaches the pin but I removed it to photograph the pin details. Measures 3/4-inch in diameter.
