Description: We are offering a National Sojourners Medal presented to Capt. Walter Garde, Past President of the National Sojourners New London Chapter No. 58. The medal comes in its Dieges & Clust [Jewelers] case, the maker of the medal. Engraved on the back is "Presented to Capt. Walter Garde, C.N.G. by New London Chapter No. 58. 1932". Below this is the Dieges & Clust American Eagle trademark, G. f [gold filled], and the company name. The inside of the cover of the case is stamped "Dieges & Clust Gold & Silversmiths, New York, Boston, Pittsburgh, Chicago. Manufacturing Specialty Jewelers". **CONDITION** - medal is Excellent; Box shows some wear but is in good condition. **NOTE** - The National Sojourners is an American patriotic organization of Freemasons - composed of Master Masons who served in the United States Uniformed Services or are elected to honorary membership, founded for the purpose of developing true patriotism throughout America. Dieges & Clust, which was founded in 1898, produced dozens of important and prestigious medals: including the Spanish-American War Medal, 1904 Olympic Medal, New York State World War I Service Medal, the Medal of Honour, and the Titanic-Carpathia Medals (at the request of "The Unsinkable" Mrs. Molly Brown). They also made baseball's first Most Valuable Player Awards, Lou Gehrig's farewell plaque, and a 1936 New York Yankees World Series ring owned by Lou Gehrig. The company also made the Heisman Trophy in New York and Providence, Rhode Island from 1935 through late 1979 when the company was sold to Herff Jones in 1980.
