Description: The flute is made from Eastern Cedar and air dried for 2 years and won't crack because it has been dried carefully with both ends painted with enamel to ensure precise drying. The swirls in the wood are typical of Lakota ceremonial object design & diamond shape as well. The flute is painted with enamel and sealed with 4 coats of tung oil that creates a very shiny sheen level finish. The length on the flute is 27-3/4 inches and 2-3/4 inch height at the bird head and 3 inch height at the tone adjustment. The Swirls in the wood are a unique design seen in northern style pipe stems and other crafts made by the Lakota/ Sioux. Also the diamond shape in the wood as well as the bead work incorporated has its meaning as related to the eye of the great spirit. The beads are glass and are very well attached to the flute. The 6 hole flute offers a scale of 7 tones. Very good sounding, I have been making flutes for 37 years as a Lakota flute maker. The authenticity of the flute can be proven as I am in accordance with the 1991 U S Indian Arts & Crafts Law and if you need tribal affiliation proof then request it.
