Description: Native American Indian Artifact Pre-1600 Pennsylvania - 3/4 Ridged Groove AXE - "Bennet C. Wheeler" This artifact is a 3/4 slanted ridged groove axe that has had its bit completely broken off. The axe is polished well on most parts of the item excluding the poll, groove, and one face of the blade. The poll, groove, and one side of the blade have lots of pitting and some scratches. There are chips on the poll and near the broken off bit area. One side of the artifact has been chipped on both ridges of the groove. There is patination throughout the artifact. 3/4 GROOVE AXEBrown/Black STONEThere is an old collector sticker on this item that reads: "Archeological Collection Bennet C. Wheeler Pylesville, Md." with a handwritten note stating: "McCalls Ferry Lancaster Co PA 1916"McCalls Ferry Lancaster County, Pennsylvania1lb 5.6oz4 3/8 inches (Length) - 3 1/8 inches (Height)My father was an antique dealer and collector. Through the years he built quite a collection of many things with one of his favorite things to collect being primitive native American artifacts.
