Description: Native Michigan Copper in Basalt matrix with white Calcite, green Prehnite staining and other minerals. This specimen has just a tiny showing of copper but has a lot of greenish Prehnite staining along with the Calcite. The Prehnite and Calcite in this are quite beautiful. I sanded this with 100, 220, 300 and 400 grit sandpaper and then hand rubbed multiple coats of natural shellac to protect the copper from oxidizing. This specimen may still show some signs of saw marks because I was careful not to sand too deep and sand off the copper and other visible minerals.
