The branches have tiny delicate polyp bumps, this is where the coral sent out it's polyps to eat and acquire light. MEASUREMENTS: WIDE- 7" TALL- 5 1/4" DEEP- 6" No harm was done to the coral reefs to get this coral. It has been aqua-cultured, or grown in tidal pools to be harvested. They follow strict regulations, just as the timber industry and replant constantly, the coral that is removed. It is in beautiful condition with a gorgeous white color. For those that enjoy a really organic beauty. The color is natural, it is not dyed. This piece is wonderfully organic shaped and ground flat on the bottom, it is perfect for a shelf or on a table for display. There will be natural imperfections, as shown in photos, these add to the beauty and character of genuine coral. Notice the delicate beauty of the coral in the close up photos.
