Description: The nuggets are approximately 4mm X 7mm at their widest points; the studs are 14k gold, 9/16" long 20 gauge wire and the fluted backs are 14k. The nuggets average weight is .49 grams each and the overall weight is 1.24 grams. At one time I had the gold from the claim assayed and it came out at almost 22k but could vary anywhere around that number. I mined these for 10 years in a small creek near Auburn, California during the 1990's. The claim was part of 6 miles of a patented mining claim that has been continuously mined since the 1880's and still produces nuggets like these. My work buddies used to make fun of me when I would come back after a weekend of mining and only have a little gold in the bottom of my vial, saying "you didn't even make gas money. I would counter with if I had a boat and put it in the water all I would have would be a hole in the water into which I poured money.
