This is a wonderful and educational toy that has been neglected and stored in poor conditions.While the right side of the engine is in excellent condition, the left side was obviously exposed to humidity which triggered a large area of surface rust. The areas most affected are the boiler house (photos), part of the left side of the base and the burner tray.While this is a rather sad story, the engine is mechanically sound and can be restored to a very nice cosmetic condition. It has been air tested and should give no problem to operate on steam. Short of the original box, it is complete and all original. You will need some solid fuel (anywhere camping supplies are old) and distilled water is highly recommended. If you are contemplating the purchase of a new D6, the D8 is a much more powerful but still a small engine.The D8 was discontinued a long time ago. Condition : This Live Steam Engine is the victim of poor storage conditions.
