Description: Up for sale is a super cute porcelain candy or nut bowl made in Japan for the luxe store Neiman Marcus. The bowl, or dish, measures about 5.375 inches long (beak to tail), about 4 inches wide, and about 2.25 inches tall (base to top of head). I have found what appears to be the identical form on the website of a few specialty retailers who have identified it as Hakusan. One of these websites provides the following description: "This small bowl in the shape of a bird (“Tori” in Japanese) with spread wings was designed by the famous Japanese designer Yasuki Sakamoto for the “Hakusan Tuoki” porcelain factory, which was founded in 1779. Beautiful feather pattern on the inside and outside .... The head and tail are prominent and the tail can be used as a rest, e.g. for chopsticks. The bowl is ideal for offering dried fruits and nuts, spices and sauces or desserts." PLEASE NOTE: The only visible information on the bottom of this bowl is the "Neiman Marcus Japan" sticker shown in photo # 7. I do not see the glazed marking of "Hakusan". However, I have not attempted to remove the sticker to see what might be underneath. Please see above for full description of condition (which is excellent) and for photos. Sold as is.
