Description: Neues Beethoven - Jahrbuch 1924-1930. Shipped with USPS Media Mail. The New Beethoven Yearbook was published in Germany in the early 20th century. This thick hardbound volume collects the first four volumes of this periodical (1924, 1925, 1927 and 1930), edited by Adolf Sandberger. Collected within it are essays from eminent Beethoven experts, musicologists and historians of the day, including Theodor von Frimmel, Alfred Lorenz, Arnold Schering, Max Unger, Arnold Schmitz, Ludwig Schiedermair, and many others. These periodicals were probably released in connection with the centennial of Beethoven's death in 1827. The binding is sound, if a little fragile due to age, but is not cocked and the inner hinges are generally solid; the front hinge is starting to separate a little bit. The front cover has a few stains, and the spine has fairly serious sunning damage. Gold stamping on spine and front cover are intact. The upper corners are somewhat bent. The inside front cover has a few inscriptions and owner stamps are on the flyleaf and title page. However, this is not ex-library and has not been roughly used. From a smoke-free home. It is a good solid book with plenty of Beethoven information that's today very hard to find outside of a major university library. Please be aware that the contents are I believe almost entirely in German (I see one article in Italian).
